RUN (Reserve Unique Name) is the MCA's web service for checking and reserving a company name — including the new name your existing company wants to adopt.
For an existing company, a name change begins with the RUN service: you propose one name, the system checks it against existing companies, trademarks and prohibited-name rules, and reserves it for a limited period if approved. This reservation is only the first step — you still need a board resolution, a special resolution passed by members, and Form INC-24 to formally change the name on the ROC record before a fresh Certificate of Incorporation is issued.
